Order Academic Apparel

Academic Apparel for Faculty

IU Bloomington is pleased to provide faculty members with academic regalia for Commencement and other robed ceremonies, free of charge.

Once ordered, the apparel will ship to the address that you specify. Included is a prepaid shipping label for returning the apparel as soon as Commencement and related events have ended. Request a missing shipping label here.

The deadline to order apparel for the 2025 Spring Commencement is Monday, April 7, 2024.

Included Apparel

Apparel requested by the deadline includes:

A black gown
A hood reflecting your highest degree (and the institution from which you received it)
An adjustable tam and matching tassel

Use the prepaid shipping label to return your graduation regalia. You may also reuse the shipping box.

Hood and Tassel Colors

If you have a Ph.D. from IU, you’ll wear a royal blue hood and gold tassel. If you’ve received a Ph.D. from somewhere else, your regalia will reflect that institution.

If you have a bachelor’s or master’s degree, you’ll wear regalia that reflects your highest degree and the granting institution.
