Complete Eligibility Requirements

Make a list and check your requirements twice

Get ready to celebrate your biggest academic achievement yet

As you wrap up your days at IU, it can be easy to forget details. If you complete your requirements in the fall, you’ll attend the Winter Commencement. If you complete your requirements anytime after January until the end of the summer semester, you’ll attend Spring Commencement. Refer to the items below to stay on track.

Double-check these two things:

  1. Verify that your name and address are accurate at Student Central. The spelling and formatting of your name indicated there—including apostrophes, suffixes, middle names, and spaces—will be used on your diploma, in transcripts, and in the program book. You can also update your gender, birthdate, and address while you’re at it.

Tip: Your diploma will be mailed to you after Commencement. If your mailing address is on-campus and you’re moving out before or immediately after graduation day, update your address to someplace you trust, like a workplace, your family’s address, or a new residence. Though your diploma is sent after the ceremony, every graduate who attends Commencement will receive a lovely diploma cover.

    Double-check your name and address
  2. Pay your bursar bill and check that you’re in good standing via One.IU. The university can’t release your diploma and declare you a graduate until your bursar bill is paid in full. Bursar charges include parking tickets.
