Traffic tips for attending IU Bloomington Commencement

Allow plenty of time to get to Commencement 2021. Traffic will be heavy, and Bloomington’s streets are narrow.

May 2021 Graduate Commencement (for master’s. specialist, graduate diploma, and doctoral graduates) will be held on Friday, May 7, in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, 1001 E. 17th Street, which is bordered by Dunn Street, the Indiana 45/46 Bypass, Fee Lane, and 17th Street. Parking is free on Commencement day.

Graduates will be directed to Wilkinson Hall, 1151 E. 17th Street, for robing as they arrive. Guests will proceed into Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall for seating.

On Friday, May 7, use the following gates to enter the Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall parking lot (uniformed attendants will assist you):

Gates 2, 4, 6, 8, and 9: For all guests, except those who use wheelchairs.

Gate 12: For graduates who are unaccompanied by friends or family.

Gate 13: For vehicles with persons in wheelchairs only.

May 2021 Undergraduate Commencement (for bachelor’s degree graduates) will be held on Saturday, May 8, in Memorial Stadium, 701 E . 17th Street, which is bordered by Dunn Street, the Indiana 45/46 Bypass, Fee Lane, and 17th Street. Parking is free on Commencement day.

Graduates will be directed to Mellencamp Pavilion, 1800 N. Dunn Street, for robing as they arrive. Guests will proceed into Memorial Stadium for seating.

On Saturday, May 8, use the following gates to enter the Memorial Stadium parking lot (uniformed attendants will assist you):

Gates 2, 6, 8, 9, 10, and 11: For all guests.

Gate 4: For vehicles with persons in wheelchairs. All other guests may also use gate 4.

Gates 10 and 11: For graduates unaccompanied by other guests.
